Individual Literature Collections Now Available on the ProQuest Platform

ProQuest is pleased to inform you that individual Alexander Street and Chadwyck-Healey literature collections are available on the main ProQuest platform as of March 2020 and are cross-searchable with other relevant literature and multi-disciplinary content on the platform.

This improvement builds upon the recent enhancement and move of Literature Online onto the ProQuest platform, as well as the recent launch of ProQuest One Literature our new flagship modern destination for literature research, teaching and learning.

The new sites on the ProQuest platform for individual Alexander Street and Chadwyck-Healey literature collections are available in parallel with the corresponding legacy user experience for each respective collection until December, 2020.

We extended the legacy access from August to December 2020 to give users more time to get comfortable using these literature collections on the main ProQuest platform, while continuing to access the legacy site(s).

When will these individual literature collections be available on the ProQuest platform?
They will be available as of March 31, 2020.

How long will the legacy literature sites for these collections be available?
The legacy sites will remain available until December, 2020 which offers users ample time to get comfortable with the benefits of the literature experience within the ProQuest platform. Both sites will run in parallel until December, 2020.

Do I need to take any action such as updating links or updating MARC records?
No! In December 2020, all bookmarks, links, and MARC records will redirect automatically to the literature collections on the ProQuest platform.

There is no need to take any action unless you want to migrate your campus users earlier. Should you choose to do that, follow these steps:

What will happen at the end of the dual access period (parallel access of both sites)?
In December 2020 all bookmarks, links, and MARC records will redirect automatically to the literature collections on the ProQuest platform.

How will discovery services account for these individual literature collections on the ProQuest platform?
Both Ex Libris Primo and Summon will enable the new feed to the new access URL(s) at the time of launch on March 31, 2020. Primo and Summon will support queries to both the legacy and the new site(s) until the end of the dual access period which is December 2020. At that time, the instance on the legacy site(s) will be disabled and customers will have to select the new instance in their discovery tools.

The moment you want to direct your Primo or Summon users to the ProQuest platform literature collections you would need to disable the current legacy collections, and enable the new ProQuest platform version(s) instead.

What will happen to usage statistics?
Usage statistics for ProQuest platform are accessible in the ProQuest administrator module at https://admin.proquest.com.

As you use both the legacy interface and the new site on the ProQuest platform in parallel, you will see two versions of your usage statistics. Once you stop using the legacy interface you will see only one version in usage reports.
