How to Add Proxy Prefix to URLs

Instructions on how to add your proxy prefix to URLs in ProQuest

A proxy server is a server that acts as an intermediary between your users and the Internet so that you can ensure security and improve performance. You can enable authentication/access via proxy server in the ProQuest Administrator Module. If you don't know the proxy URL, check with your library administrator.

Note: The ProQuest Administrator Module is for authorized library/institution personnel only. Please contact customer service if you do not have an account set up, or if you forgot your login information.

Steps to add the proxy prefix:

  1. Log into the ProQuest Admin Module http://admin.proquest.com/
  2. Click Authentication / Access button on the left side
  3. Click the Proxy tab in the middle of the page http://admin.proquest.com/proxytab
  4. Enter your prefix in the forms below. This is based on a proxy prefix of proxy.schoolname.edu
EZProxy:    http://proxy.schoolname.edu:2048/   OR http://proxy.schoolname.edu/ if the proxy does not require a port number

III WAM proxy:   http://0-search.proquest.com.proxy.schoolname.edu

If using another proxy service provider, please contact the provider for their recommended URL structure.
