Interface language vs. content language - Factiva

What is the difference between interface language and content language? Why can't I find articles in the language I've selected for my Factiva.com interface?

Factiva.com is available in nine language interfaces:

  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Spanish
  • Italian
  • Japanese*
  • Russian
  • Chinese - Traditional*
  • Chinese - Simplified*
Interface language is completely independent from content language. When you select an interface language, you are selecting the language that is displayed in the components of our Web site (links, buttons, labels, tabs, etc...)

When you select a Content Language or group of Content Languages, you are selecting the language(s) for the articles you wish to search and read.

IMPORTANT:

  1. You can select any combination of interface language and content languages. For example, You can select Deutsch (German) as your interface language, and then select to view content in Italian and Russian.
  2. If you want to view content in the language you have selected as your Interface language, you must select that same language as one of your content languages.

  • In order to search for content in a variety of languages in theNewsstand component of News Pages, you must go to your Factiva.com preferences under tools and select the language(s) you wish to search. Click Here for further instruction. Please note that you can browse Newsstand sources in any language, no matter what you have selected in your preferences, and as long as your browser has the correct software installed to view Chinese and Japanese characters.
