Browser and Workstation Security Requirements

Access and Authentication

IP based and User ID/Password access is offered to login to Factiva. 

  • The login URL for User ID/Password access is:  http://global.factiva.com
  • The IP login URL is customized at the institutional level.   Please contact Customer Service if you do not have your login URL and you are the Account Administrator.
  • Remote users: Please contact the institution from which you access Factiva, for the remote access instructions. Technical Support will not be able to provide this information to you. 
Administering your Account / Making Changes
Library Staff can make some changes to their account  through the Administrator tab at the top of the screen.  You have to be logged into the administrator account to see and to have access to the Administrator tab.  To login to the administrator account follow the instructions below.
  1. Go to the user acct, click preferences, then password, then select "do NOT save my username and password", then log out.
  2. You can then get to the log on screen at http://global.factiva.com and enter the admin user info.
Usage
Usage is accessed through the usage tab.  If the usage tab is not displayed, you will have to login with the administrator account.  If you cannot get to a login screen, follow the instructions below.
  1. Go to the user acct, click preferences, then password, then select "do NOT save my username and password", then log out.
  2. You can then get to the log on screen at http://global.factiva.com and enter the admin user info.
  3. From the administrator account, go to "Tools" at the top right corner of the screen, and then click on "Usage Reports".

Linking
  • Factiva is not  OpenURL Source or  OpenURL Target compliant with San Antonio Level 1 (SAP1).
  • MARC Records are not available for Factiva.
Meta-Searching
  • XML Gateway is not available.
  • Factiva does not support Z39.50 Access.
